About

Founded in 2017, the Ethiopian Deaf Community in the United States of America (EDCUSA) is a dedicated non-profit organization established to support and empower Deaf individuals within the Ethiopian community across the U.S. Operating under the laws of Maryland, EDCUSA is recognized as a 501(c)(3) entity, ensuring that our focus remains on community service rather than profit.

Mission and Vision

Our mission is to create a vibrant community that fosters connection, communication, and cultural appreciation among Ethiopian Deaf individuals and their families. We aim to provide resources, advocacy, and opportunities that enhance the quality of life and promote inclusivity.

Governance and Structure

EDCUSA is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of seven members who are elected during our annual meeting. Our bylaws outline the procedures for meetings, elections, and the responsibilities of officers, ensuring transparency and effective management.

Commitment to Community

We hold regular meetings, including an annual meeting to address important organizational business and special meetings as needed. Our bylaws emphasize the importance of participation, with provisions for virtual and in-person attendance, ensuring that all voices can be heard.

Looking Ahead

As we grow, we remain committed to adapting our initiatives and programs to meet the needs of our community. We invite you to join us in this journey, whether through participation in events, volunteering, or supporting our mission.

Thank you for being a part of the Ethiopian Deaf Community in the U.S.!
